Scooby-Scooby-Doo, Where are You?

Went to a Christmas party Friday night. It was a pot luck, so I brought a light and tasty salad. It turned out pretty good. There was lots of game playing going on, including spoons, Cranium, and Mario Cart Double Dash. Today I'm attempting to get Christmas cards written, but it is slow going. I need Kimmers here to keep me motivated :-)

A while back Kimmers was gracious enough to help me make some changes to my Blog design. For those of you who haven't noticed, it is now bright green, blue, and orange. Why these colors? Well, Kimmers and I decided to stay true to the Scooby-Doo theme and make it as 60's/70's funky as it could possibly be. That, and the fact they are the colors on the Mystery Machine.

See? If you look closely you can see how well the blue matches my sky blue, how the orange matches my flaming orange, and how the green matches my puke green. Kimmers is wonderful with color :-) For your viewing pleasure the Scooby-Doo picture was also added in my link bar on the left. I like it.

As you may have read earlier, during the warmer months I would go out with the guys at lunch and play horseshoes at the pits. I've missed it a lot the last couple months, so today we took a chance, put on our boots, hats, and gloves, and ventured outside to give snowshoes a try! We cleared out the pits as much as we could with our shovels and boots and went to it. It was so much fun! I highly recommend it. The best part is when a bad throw goes off into the huge white drifts and someone has to dig until they find it. The worst part is when you are the one who gets stuck digging :-)

Went to see another Canadien's game in Montreal. An interesting question came up on the way home, what is a Hab? The hockey team is called the Montreal Canadiens, but they are called the Habs most of the time. Everywhere I've looked I can't seem to find out what it means. If you know, drop me a line!

Another funny nuance during the game was the singing of the national anthems. During the US National Anthem, the big video screen in the middle of the rink showed beautiful American landscapes, like the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco and various monuments in Washington DC. During the Canadian Anthem, they showed old pictures of former hockey players. No joke, they didn't even show a Canadian flag! I know hockey is the national sport in Canada, but come on, they have more pride in hockey than the nation itself? I'll never understand Canadians, and the only group that I'll never understand more are women :-)

It finally stopped around noon. We got just about two feet! I feel a skiing adventure coming soon...
