Underground Casino Exposed!
The Big Blue Reporter
Essex, VT
In a sting operation that will not soon be forgotten, federal officers have raided a suspected casino in a local condo community. ATF officials helped capture six players and the casino operator at gunpoint. The ring leader, a Mr. Ngai, has already been indicted on federal charges on everything from running a casino without a license to tax evasion. The charges are very serious and run a maximum sentence of life in prison. Mr. Ngai declined to comment on any of the charges, but he did have his attorney, Mr. Todd, make a statement.
"My client is not guilty of any of these charges. He is confident that after a thorough review of the evidence justice will prevail and his name will be cleared. Virginia Tech is going all the way!"
When asked if he himself was part of the usual gamblers at the condo, the attorney denied the allegations.
"It's not gambling when I only lose money. Virginia Tech beat Miami! Woo!"
There had been reports for the last six months that a casino had been running illegally in the basement of a quiet condo complex. When officials caught wind of the operation, they immediately sent in a spy. The mole, who asked to not be named, gave a description of the usual goings on.
"People would start arriving around 6pm and stay well into the night drinking and gambling. Mr. Ngai would always take things slow and let the other players win a few hands of Texas Holdem. Then, once people started laying down real money he would jump in and take them for all they were worth. It was a nasty scene."
Until complete charges have been filed, all perpetrators are secure in the county jail. Once again a quiet Vermont community can feel safe going outside at night without the fear of Mr. Ngai and his ruthless band of poker players.

Boston
Boston was great. The group I went with hadn't seen the third Matrix movie, so I sat though it once again. Let me tell you, it wasn't any better than the first time. After that we rode the T (the Boston subway) over to the Fleet Center where the Bruins play. It was a nice facility, better than Belle Center by far. The Bruins beat Dallas 4-1 and it was filled with fights. It was an excellent game to watch. From there we walked over to Beer Works and had some crazy microbrewed beers, such as Peanut Butter (yuck!), Pumpkin (so-so), and Blueberry (yummm). It was a pretty cool bar. We hopped/stumbled back onto the T and went back to Davis Square where one of the guys lives and checked out The Burren. It was a decent bar, but by that time more than one of us was a bit goofy. One in particular decided that he wanted to keep trying to shut the door coming into the bar (it was cold!) even though the bouncer was more than determined to keep it open. The third time my friend tried to shut the door, the bouncer saw him and he got a stern talking to. My friend responded by walking away and giving the bouncer the finger behind his back. Well, Mr. Bouncer didn't like that so he came over to our table and asked my friend to leave. He wouldn't, so arm twisting and grappling took place and before anyone knew what was going on, my friend was out in the street. After that our whole group took off and went to bed. What a night!
