Wendy's Update

Yo-Ho! Wendy's in Essex Junction is officially open for business. For my first meal I enjoyed a large cup of low-fat chili and a Frosty. Except for a burnt tongue from the chili, the meal was great. Here's to many more excellent meals at Wendy's! (And here's to lots more running if I start going there too much!)

Favorite Places: Glacier National Park

As everyone knows Scooby-Doo is an extensive traveler, people sometimes ask where his favorite place in the United States is to visit. I can honestly tell you that it is Glacier National Park. This wonderland is located in Montana on the Canadian border. It's by far the best park Scooby (and I) have ever camped at. What's so great about this park? It's got mountains everywhere. The main road through the park is called the Going to the Sun Road. It's literally on the side of a mountain with 500 ft. drops if you go too far off the shoulder, plus tunnels all over. Throughout Glacier there is wildlife abound - last time I was there I was lucky enough to see three black bears. I would totally recommend a visit to anyone who loves the great outdoors. Scooby gives it four out of four paws!

Movie Review: Conan the Barbarian

Movie Title: Conan the Barbarian
Genre: Action/Fantasy
Stars: Arnold Schwarzenegger, James Earl Jones
Plot: Conan gets sold into slavery after his family is murdered. He grows up to be a great warrior and seeks revenge against the high priest who slaughtered his family in cold blood.
Review: A great movie! Nothing says classic Arnold like sword fighting, hot chicks, and constant action to keep you on the edge of your seat.
Best Lines:
Mongol Warlord: "What is best?"
Mongol General: "The open steppe, fleet horse, falcon on your wrist, wind in your hair!"
Mongol Warlord: "Wrong! Conan! What is best?"
Conan: "To crush your enemies! To see them driven before you, and hear the lamentation of the women!"

[Conan punches out the camel]
Sumiti: "Bah...You're to BIG to be a thief!"

All About Pants

It looks as though I have some groveling to do. Recently I ripped on a certain person about how many pairs of shoes she owned. After doing a little closet cleaning last night I found out I have don't have any reason to talk.

Last Saturday I went pants shopping. I needed new kahkis and jeans and the cruddy weather outside seemed a perfect reason to do it. I ended up getting a pair of carpenter pants from American Eagle Outfitters that I really liked. Yeah new jeans! As I was saying before, two days later I was cleaning out my drawers and found out how many pairs of jeans I truly own...ten pairs. And that is only jeans! I also have one pair of cargos and 5 pairs of forgotten dress pants. That comes to a grand total of 16 pairs of pants. Guess how many I actually wear on a regular basis? About four. In light of this revelation I got rid of two pairs of jeans - one for rags and one for good will. Hopefully I'll be able to part with a few more soon. If not, I'll be all set the next time I feel the need to wear 6 different pairs of jeans in one day.

Wendy's!

Attention Wendy's lovers! Northwestern Vermont's very first Wendy's is set to open this Thursday! It's going to pandemonium as Essex opens its doors and its hearts to America's favorite fast food chain. Hungry Vermonters can now fill up on the patented square burger, the 99 cent menu, and of course, America's darling, the Frosty! I know I am excited. So, for a taste of goodness, come on down to five corners and get your fill. I'll meet you there.

Shoes

Hmmm. Let's take a look at a recent claim from Kimmers:

And while some of you may think that I do own too many shoes (you know who you are) compared to the national average I do not own a lot.

If Kimmers has less shoes than the national average, then what is the national average? I tried looking this information up on Google and somehow I got to the National Horseshoe Pitchers Association of America website...not quite it. Anyway, not being able to find this information, let's take Kimmer's word for it. Since I know Kimmers owns at least twenty pairs of shoes, the national average has to be about 25 pairs. 25 pair? I've seen both my sister's shoe collections and I would guess that they own about 15 pairs each. Something doesn't add up here. I know I am a guy that owns six pairs of shoes and maybe I don't have a true picture of the "shoe consumption per capita," but I do know Kimmers owns a lot of shoes!

If someone can get me a real number on the national shoe average per person, please let me know. If I'm wrong (which happens quite a bit...Ok a lot), there'll be a good apology coming soon.
